The Delta Education 050-0752 Electromagnet Set is a construction set for grades 3-6 to turn a non-magnetic object into an electromagnet by introducing a low-level electric current, and includes a 6V battery, wire leads, a knife switch mounted on a base, a nail for magnetizing, step-by-step assembly instructions for students, and activity suggestions for teachers. A single-pole, single-throw knife switch comes mounted on a wood base approximately 3-inches square. Red and blue wire leads are connected to the switch. The blue wire connects to a 6V battery. The red wire has a spade end and wraps around a nail approximately 3.5-inches long.
