Riverstone Audio s newest product in our line of professional audio products is a record-level vertical tracking force (VTF) gauge. This stylus pressure gauge was designed for vinyl record purist s looking for a gauge capable of accurate record-level measurement of VTF. When the VTF gauge is used with the detachable cantilevered extension arm, VTF is measured approximately 3 mm from the surface of the turntable platter, close to the height of a stylus tip resting on an LP record (LP s have a typical thickness range of 1.9 mm to 2.9 mm). The tracking force gauge has a resolution of 0.005 g - providing precise VTF measurement. To reduce interaction with magnets in MM and MC cartridges, the casing of the VTF gauge is manufactured from durable plastic; the detachable stainless steel cantilevered extension arm is made from a non-ferromagnetic grade of stainless steel. Two masses, 20 g and 5 g, are included for gauge re-calibration (a straightforward 1-minute procedure) and to allow verification of gauge readings prior to VTF measurement. With a larger calibration mass, the gauge can be calibrated for use up to 100 g. A polymer pad, adhesively bonded to the measuring platform, protect the stylus tip and allows accurately centering the stylus tip on the measuring platform. The LED display (green) is bright and easy to read. A detailed instruction manual (in English) is provided.
